We are really excited to be welcoming our good friends Helen and Elly from Gathered who will be moving in with us from 16th March 2015.

Here is a Press release all about it!

A new destination for inspiring designers and makers has been created in Dorset.

Based in the bustling market town of Sherborne, Butterfly Bright is welcoming the Gathered Girls into their Digby Road home.

Together, both businesses aim to provide a destination shop that will inspire creativity and enable talented designers to showcase their work.

Butterfly Bright, a leading haberdashery, will continue to grow its making workshop schedule whilst Gathered will build upon its developing reputation for curating a range of unique and unusual gifts.

The team at Butterfly Bright has seen an amazing resurgence in the traditional crafts in the last few years. Alison Nurton, of Butterfly Bright, said, ‘we have experienced a really strong interest in our knitting, crochet and sewing workshops in the last year, with over 30% more people learning the techniques with us. We are looking forward to building on this success by making sure we have all the fabrics, yarns, haberdashery and inspiration that people need to fulfil their creative potential’.

Alison continues, ‘we’ve also seen a lot of interest in our dressmaking workshops especially since the popularity of the BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee. Forthcoming workshops with local blogger LazyDaisyJones include ‘create your own knickers’ and “making a Mathilde Blouse” designed by former Sewing Bee contestant ‘Tilly and the Buttons”.

Gathered launched in Cheap Street, Sherborne just over a year ago and work with over 150 designers from across the world, curating a selection of gifts for the whole family. Elly Waller said, ‘We look for beauty, comfort and quality in our objects – gifts that get better with time, jewellery that lasts forever & homewares that make every day special’.

Gathered has also developed a subscription box service, ‘Gathered Gifted’ where people can receive a gift from the extensive Gathered range, tailored to their taste, each month in the post. This is proving incredibly popular both in store and when Gathered goes ‘on Tour’ exhibiting at events such as Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair and the London based Babyccino’s Shop Up in Chelsea.
