In advance of their exhibition in Sherborne (see details below) we will have a display and demonstration at Butterfly Bright on Saturday 5th September.

Do pop into the shop between 10am and 3pm to see some quilling examples and to meet our local quilling expert Jill Lackford.

A CELEBRATION OF QUILLING!

The Quilling Guild will be staging its Annual Display of Work showcasing the art of paper filigree in Sherborne, Dorset, on 19th September 2015.

The event will be held at The Digby Hall, Hound Street, Sherborne, Dorset, DT9 3AA, open to the public from 12:30 to 17:00 on Saturday 19th September (admission charge £1; children accompanied by an adult free.)

Quilling, or ‘paper filigree’, is the centuries-old art of rolling narrow strips of paper and then shaping them to create exquisite and intricate designs. It can be applied to a wide range of projects, from simple gift tags and greetings cards to the creation of pictures, jewellery, freestanding paper sculptures and the decoration of three-dimensional objects such as boxes.

The highlight of the event will be extensive displays of quilled artwork by filigree artists from all over the UK and around the world. Expert judges and members of the Quilling Guild will vote on entries in a number of different competition categories, resulting in the declaration of winners for the Guild’s prestigious and highly coveted awards.

“The programme of events for the day encompasses demonstrations, ‘make and take’ workshops, trade stands selling all manner of quilling supplies and displays of quilled art to take your breath away”, says Yeovil resident Jill Lackford who has played an active role in organising the event. “Visitors will have ample opportunity to learn about quilling, share ideas and gain inspiration from some of the world’s best-known quillers. Members of the public will be most welcome to attend.”

The Quilling Guild exists to encourage, support, preserve and publicise the art of Quilling.
